We are dedicated to research in meteorology with special emphasis on numerical simulations of the effects of orography on atmospheric flow. With state of the art numerical weather prediction models, run on powerful computer clusters, forecasts of precipitation, winds and temperature are becoming ever more detailed and reliable.
We work on various research projects with universities, organizations and private companies in Norway, Finland, Faroe Islands, USA and other countries. This close collaboration is key to our ongoing success and commitment to provide our customers with the best weather forecasts possible.
IMR was founded in 2001 by the meteorologists Haraldur Ólafsson and Ólafur Rögnvaldsson. In 2007 Haraldur sold his part in the company and Sigurjón Sindrason and María Edwardsdóttir came in as new share-holders.
